Goa Retreats (January - April)

GOA:

GOA is a beautiful mix of Indian culture and historic European influences. East and west
come together in this sun-soaked state, Goa is a mix where Indian culture intertwines with
Portuguese influences left over from a 500-year occupation and North Goa now has an
International flair that is now more ‘hip’ than hippie. The further North you travel, there are
some beautiful stretches of unspoiled sand and escapes from large resorts. Culture, shopping
and cuisine are well catered for too on a holiday to Goa.

THE PLACE:

This retreat is a beautiful hidden gem located in the North of Goa, a perfect place to escape to.
Relax, unwind and take in the peaceful ambiance and soothing sound of the waves from the
ocean, there is little here to disturb you. But if you feel like being active in your free time, there
really is much to do. Ashwem is at the northern end of Goa away from the hustle and bustle of
more famous crowded beaches.

The resort consists of beautiful cottages that are exotic and tastefully designed with luxurious
antique Indian furniture set in a lush tropical garden with palm trees and hammocks strewn
about and beautiful views. A peaceful paradise set back a few steps from one of the most
beautiful beaches of North Goa.

THE RETREAT

7 DAY OR 14 DAY YOGA RETREAT

Seven glorious days to dive deep into the heart… exploring what it means to truly meet
the moment, as it arises, both within and without. Each day will begin with a lusciously
long morning practise – asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), relaxation and
meditation.

During your holiday you will have the chance to develop your yoga practice and experience
new yoga styles, techniques, meditation under the guidance and supervision of fully qualified
experienced and knowledgeable yoga teachers. There are two classes included daily, the
morning practice is a stronger class and the evening a more restorative class. Additional classes
and workshops will be also available for the hard core yogis!

In between, the time if yours to do as you please, this is the ideal place to treat yourself to
holistic Indian healing, from head massage to reflexology or body massage and all at reasonable
prices, you can try a new therapy every day.

Take a walk along the beautiful beach, lounge around with a book in one of the many beach
side cafés or shacks, snoozing in the garden hammocks, or simply topping up the tan and
swimming in the ocean! We want you to get exactly what you want and need from you trip.
Perhaps you need to relax and sleep more, or perhaps you want a massage or go exploring.
Many options will be available to you. There will be excursions available to the famous Anjuna
flea market, boat trips, waterfalls and to Old Goa, a World Heritage Site and with a mix of

colonial whitewashed churches and Hindu temples.

The Yoga:

Morning class will be strong, focusing on posture and deepening your knowledge and
awareness and the afternoon practice will vary from day to day, from restorative to
spontaneous wild leaps into the unknown!

In order for participants to experience different styles of yoga, we have created a retreat that
will offer variety.

Beginners, intermediate and advanced students are all welcome and we adapt the class to the
personal needs of each pupil.

Styles of yoga taught include Hatha, Dynamic, Vinyasa, Flow, Sivananda, Kundalini and Iyengar.
Each class includes yoga asanas, meditation and pranayama.

Our retreats usually develop organically according to the needs of the group, even though the
structure of the Yoga classes remains unaltered.

Meals:

The food concept is healthy, tasty and wherever possible organic.

Breakfast and lunch are included daily.

You can choose from fresh tropical fruit, homemade organic yoghurt, museli, fresh local Goan
breads, freshly prepared juices, herbal teas and chai. (Eggs available on request). Soya milk is
also available.

Lunch will be an Ayurvedic selection of vegetarian dishes, the chefs prepare local seasonal
produce giving you a selection and variety of delicious dishes to choose from including fresh
vegetables, dhal, rice and mouth watering salads.

All meals and salads are prepared using filtered water only.

Throughout the day you can order small snacks, vitamin and health-booster juices and fresh
tropical fruit to your cottage.

The evenings are free to enjoy one of the many culinary delights in the area. Name any kind
of food and you can find it in Goa! From the best Italian Pizza to gourmet French cuisine,
(Ashwem hosts one of the best French restaurants in India!) and for fish and seafood lovers,
this is paradise!

The Teachers:

Pam Paramjit Anand has been teaching yoga for nearly 10 years and has spent the past
few years based between London and Goa, so is an expert in the Goa area! She also spends several weeks training and teaching at Shri Shakti Darshan Yoga Ashram in the South of India with Beloved Guru ji Devdas Rao. She has conducted several Rejuvenating & Transformational Soul Healing & Yoga workshops in North Goa & the Ashram, and led two Yoga Retreats at the beautiful Beach Cottages in February and March 2010 as well as workshops and retreats in Europe.

Her passion for Yoga started at a very early age, when as a child she would enjoy the high of naturally doing handstands and cartwheels! Her journey in the Holistic field started with Sivananda Yoga and her keen interest in core strength and posture furthered her knowledge in becoming a Pilates teacher also.

In addition to this, her training includes Kriya (pranayam) Yoga, Chanting Mantra’s, Vinyasa Flow, Yoga Nidra and various meditation techniques. Her latest love to coincide with Yoga is Divine Taoist teachings and Soul healing with Master & Dr Zhi Gang Sha “Heal the Soul first then Mind & Body will follow”. She is a Soul Healer Teacher & Healer, currently training for her Master certification and also teaches Soul Dancing. Her mission is to teach and spread the Power of Soul.
She is also involved in voluntary projects with the Nirankari Spiritual Mission Worldwide.

Her style of teaching is quite unique as she connects with the participants and can adapt Asana's, Pranayam and Meditations to suit all levels of fitness, strength, flexibility and mental agility. She will take you on a journey Inwards, reconnecting Mind, Heart, Soul and Body allowing for you to heal, rejuvenate and energise as you practice. You will be refreshed and renewed!

Anita Anand has been teaching yoga for over 10 years in the UK, Cananda and India. She has
spent the past two years living in India studying yoga and meditation techniques at various
ashrams whilst completing her Masters in Consciousness and Transpersonal Psychology. She

is most passionate about the innate quality we all have to heal our body and mind and serves
as a Journey Practitioner in a powerful cellular healer process designed by Brandon Bays. She
is certified with Sivananda in Ayurvedic Nutrition and Hatha Yoga and also in Kundalini Yoga
(Yogi Bhajan) KYI Institute. Additionally, she has trained in Vinyasa Flow and to facilitate OSHO
Meditations Worldwide.

Anita uses creativity and intuition in her classes, encouraging students to feel inwardly to
the inner guide and wisdom of the body whilst being directed with clear techniques and
explanations. Her teaching style highlights strength, love and grace, offering an array of
techniques to share that will keep your interests and motivation levels high. She enjoys
teaching the therapeutic aspects of yoga, meditation and mantras focusing on helping students
develop energy and awareness of the body and mind creating an overall feeling of inner peace
and happiness. Overall the experience lighthearted, fun and incredibly transforming!

Both Paramjit and Anita do not teach purely one discipline of yoga, but guarantee a high standard
and that you will receive expert tuition under the careful guidance of our teaching.
